EasyPass Annual Bus Pass

The EasyPass annual bus pass aimed to provide students with low-cost access to transit service that  lets them get around without having to drive alone. This alleviates traffic around campus, reduces the need for parking, and can help save money on transportation costs.

High Schol Outreach

High School Outreach

The goal for high school outreach was to help students find their own purpose, teach them to critically think about their direction in life and whether or not they are actually pursuing something they are passionate about, as well as to raise awareness about what's going on in our community. Here is our movie about this work

Latin@s with Purpose

Latin@s with Purpose

In an attempt to address and suture some of the issues that cause a large majority of middle school students to drop from schools and down a path of hardships, Latin@s with Purpose mentors, brainstorms, and creates a lifelong platform for our community’s young Latino brothers and sisters.

Knowledge Garden and the Outdoor School House

Knowledge Garden and the Outdoor School House

The Chabot College Knowledge Garden is the product of hundreds of hours of student volunteer efforts. The space has attracted the support of dozens of organizations, community members, and businesses.

Inreac/Impetus

Inreach/Impetus

The goal was to increase the amount of students coming to Chabot by getting in contact with students that applied to Chabot College through phone banking,  e-mail, texting, and in person appointments. The students involved in the project helped incoming students by sharing knowledge of resources that are on campus and guided them on what steps needed to be completed to be fully enrolled in classes.  Here is our movie about this work.

Homeless Outreach

Passion and Purpose students spearhead numerous initiatives and events that ameliorate homelessness and other community issues. We have worked with Ruby’s Place, Second Chance, South Hayward Parish, Alameda County Food Bank, Tri-City Volunteers, and other organizations.

RAGE

Revolutionaries Advocating for Greener Ecosystems (RAGE)

RAGE’s mission is to facilitate a shift in Chabot’s consciousness to change the culture of convenience and the framing of sustainability. RAGE inspires our campus towards healthier, sustainable practices through community service and student-led initiatives.

RISE

Restorative Integrated Self-Education (RISE)

The program enrolls and supports previously incarcerated individuals to gain the skills to re-enter society and their community through education and vocational training. The Passion and Purpose program has created sections especially tailored to serve these students.

Chabot Sanctary Status

Chabot Sanctuary Status

Chabot College students, administrators, and staff have worked hard to support Dreamers, and other at-risk students. SIC has served as a hub for much of this work.

National Gun Violence Resistance

The SIC team responds in real time to issues by offering rapid support and facilitation of events or activities. The National School Walkout is one example of this. A single student came into the SIC and asked for help in organizing this event, and SIC sprang into action. SIC had only one week to organize, advertise, and arrange speakers and activities. The event was a great success, and has paved the way for follow-up events and initiatives.

Lust for Life

Lust for Life is a 2-day event (April 17 + 19 from 12pm to 2pm in the SIC) that is billed as a “mental health and well being faire.” Passion and Purpose students will present fun activities and offer resources to students who may be stressed or can benefit from information that supports their mental health and well being.

Summer Learning Institute

The SIC offered a free 2-day immersion into Project Based Learning. The first day focused on educational theories that support PBL. The second day SIC staff supported teachers in developing projects to implement in their classes during the fall semester.  The SLI was open to faculty from across the disciplines.
